Denise Ryan studied painting at Limerick School of Art, Ireland, and had her first solo exhibition at the Thomond Gallery in Limerick after graduating. She has had several solo exhibitions and has exhibited extensively in open and invited shows, including the RHA and Oireachtas.

She had worked from her studio in Ballyvaughan until 2014 when she came to live in the Axarquia region of Andalucia, Spain. She now paints full-time at her studio in Pulgarin Alto, near Alfarnatejo.
Her work is in private and public collections in Ireland, including Failte Ireland, Chase Bank, PermanentTSB, University of Limerick and Clare County Council and in private collections in the UK, the US, France and Saudi Arabia.
